How to add an article to Joomla

> Login to Admin -> http://www.yourwebsite.com/administrator


> go to 'content' on the top menu and drop down and click on 'Article Manager.

> in article Manager click on 'NEW'



> TITLE:   add your Title - !! this will also be your automatically generated text that is sent to Facebook and Twitter - So make it descriptive

> ALIAS: type in the alias - the format here should be lower case, no gaps and ideally include any keywords you'd like the article to be found by in future

> PUBLISHED: once you select 'yes' and save the item it gets sent to Facebook/Twitter etc.   So selct 'no' if you writing a draft copy.

> FRONT PAGE: Unless your adding to the very front of the site select 'no'

> SECTION AND CATEGORY: Select which department the article should go into.

> Now enter your text in the main editor

DO NOT COPY AND PASTE FROM MICROSOFT WORD

as it will often copy over HTML tags and could make the website look very odd in some browsers




ADDING A READMORE LINE

If you have a module or page that shows intro text for an article then - like on escape surfboards website



You'll need to write your intro text and then use the 'READMORE' button.  Which will then draw a line under the intro text, then underneath put in your full article.  

> on the right hand side tabs the only thing you SHOULD really add is to the 'Metadata Information'

> DESCRIPTION : as well as appearing in the Google search text box its also the text displayed on Facebook when others share a link.

> KEYWORDS: should enter the top 2 key phrase of a page here.   seperated by a comma ','

THEN SCROLL UP AND CLICK ON 'SAVE'
